Hello to those following steady progress at Glenfine --

The picture below - taken on the morning of 28th. October 2011 -  captures a moment between arrival of trucks carrying concrete from the batch plant near the Sale-yards, Ballarat.

The trucking distance is 52 km. Six trucks delivered the 32 cubic metres ordered, and 1.2 c.m. came in the final load, required to finish.  All concrete was in place by a quarter past noon.

The photo looks north, into the pine trees. The full length of each footing is 8 metres, width 1.2 metres. The arrangement of the plates to join with the steel frame of the process plant can be seen here - now anchored in the concrete. There are four of the same size footings, set out in parallel. The overall work site area is 11m. by 8m.., positioned adjacent to water, sands for treatment, and places for waste control.

The weather on the 28th was fine, warm, with occasional hot gusts of wind from the north. Dereel weather station says wind gusts reached 70 km./h. There might have been a few mm. rain later in the afternoon as it bucketed down about 3 p.m. in Ballarat. Only 10 mm rain was recorded at Dereel, so probably less rain at Glenfine.

The arrangement is for the formwork to come off today Monday 31st - and the site to be made ready for steel to come.

The water in the dam is holding nicely. The water underground is steady, down 29.7 metres as measured in the bore, which is consistent with previous soundings.

Further information on progress at Glenfine will be provided as the tanks are positioned there.

The "Outlook" is becoming quite apparent to visitors. A bit of concrete goes in for good reason!!

On another subject, the Company has lodged with DPI the mandatory Annual Report for EL 3821. A copy of this Report will be tabled at the forthcoming AGM - Saturday 26 November, 2011.
